The operators of a central Queensland coal port targeted by protesters this week hope to resume operations later today.

The Hay Point terminal, south of Mackay, was shut down on Wednesday after 10 Greenpeace protesters chained themselves to a coal loader.

A spokeswoman for the terminal says it lost two full days of production.

The protesters are due to appear in the Mackay Magistrates Court next week charged with engaging in high risk activity.
